THE ROOM & THE FOOD:

Sushi of Naples has a great long sushi bar that is U shaped. Tables line the edge of the restaurant and there is a Yakitori Section in the back that looks dark and dubious. There appears to be an upstairs but I have not dared to ventutre up there to check it out. Avoid sitting at the back end of the bar that is close to the bathrooms. The room can get loud and it is often very crowded on the weekends with the locals.

THE FOOD:

Sushi of Naples has one of the largest selections of menus I have ever seen. Not just one menu but several. I thought I was going to have to take an exam after being handed three ringed binders. To their credit and my ignorance they assist the hungry diner with the largest assortment of  pictures of  food I have ever seen. This can make life very easy especially when trying to introduce your 19 month old grandson to Japanese food. We just showed him the pictures and let him pick out what he thought looked good. Sushi of Naples also offers you this fabulous color collection of foods on their website  sushiofnaples.com . My daughter-in-law (not a raw fish fan) was quite happy with a shrimp and vegetable tempura selection. The batter was light and crisp. The rest of us ordered a selection of rolls. The Spider Roll. Catapillar Roll, Pasadena Roll and the Crunchy Shrimp Roll were all very good and nicely presented. The Edamame warm and salty. The meal was good. I would call it average. I just expected a lot more considering all the hype I got about it from frineds.

THE SERVICE:

We were greeted nicely at the door and seated at what I think might have been one of the worst tables in the place. Right at the entrance so incoming diners were milling around us. I found this quite disturbing. I know this wasn't the worst table because it wasn't by the bathroom. The restaurant was too crowded for us to move. They also didn't have enough high chairs to go around. This annoyed me too! One server barely spoke English and as charming as this may be in a Japanese restaurant it is difficult when you have questions about the menu and your server has to go find someone to answer. I know you are thinking....why didn't I look at the pictures? After we did finally get our order in I did have to repeatedly seek out our server for more napkins etc. At one point I even got up and helped myself since I was close to their station. I know! I know! I am a very impatient diner.

COMMENTS:

I think you get an average meal at Sushi of Naples but the food isn't consistent nor is the service. I have been there on numerous occassions and I will have to recommend that you sit at the sushi bar (the middle of the bar). Here you get a little entertainment and a better atmosphere.
